National Bubble Gum Day

February 4, 2023 All day

February 4th is National Bubble gum Day!

Bubble gum is a type of chewing gum that is designed to be blown into bubbles. The history of bubble gum dates back to the late 1800s, when American inventor and entrepreneur, Walter Diemer, discovered a new type of gum while working at the Fleer Chewing Gum Company.

The early versions of bubble gum were not designed to be blown into bubbles and were used primarily for chewing. However, in 1928, Walter Diemer created a new type of gum that was specifically designed to be blown into bubbles. This gum was made using a new formula that was much stretchier and more elastic than traditional chewing gum, making it possible to blow bubbles with it.

Diemer named his new creation “Dubble Bubble” and marketed it as a fun and entertaining product for children. The gum quickly became popular, and bubble blowing contests soon became a popular pastime for kids and adults alike.

In the years that followed, bubble gum continued to evolve and improve. In the 1950s, gum manufacturers began to add flavorings and color to their products, making them even more appealing to consumers. Today, bubble gum is a staple in the candy aisle and is enjoyed by people of all ages around the world.

Happy National Bubble gum Day!
