February 2nd is National Groundhog Day!
Groundhog Day is a popular holiday in the United States and Canada celebrated on February 2nd. It is based on the belief that if a groundhog (a type of rodent) sees its shadow on this day, there will be six more weeks of winter. If the groundhog does not see its shadow, it is believed that spring will arrive early.
The holiday originated from a Pennsylvania Dutch superstition and has been celebrated for over 100 years. It is also the title of a 1993 movie starring Bill Murray, in which his character relives the same day over and over again.
