March 29th is National Vietnam War Vets Day!

National Vietnam War Veterans Day is observed each year to honor the men and women who served during the Vietnam War. This day recognizes the sacrifices and contributions of all Vietnam veterans and their families who served during the conflict, including those who were injured or who gave their lives.

A Brief History of the Vietnam War

The Vietnam War was one of the longest and most divisive conflicts in U.S. history, and it impacted millions of people both at home and abroad. Between 1955 and 1975, more than 3 million Americans served in Vietnam, and approximately 58,000 gave their lives.

On March 29th, 1973, the last U.S. combat troops left Vietnam, marking the end of American military involvement in the conflict. To honor the sacrifices of those who served, National Vietnam War Veterans Day was established in 2017, signed into law by President Trump.

It’s a time to remember and recognize the service and sacrifices of all Vietnam veterans. It’s a day to thank them for their bravery and dedication, and to honor the sacrifices of their families who supported them during the war. Many of these veterans returned home to a country that did not welcome them, and this day provides an opportunity to acknowledge their service and to express our gratitude for their contributions.
