World Wetlands Day!

February 2, 2023 All day

February 2nd is World Wetlands Day!

Wetlands are areas of land where water covers the soil or is present either at or near the surface of the soil for a substantial part of the year. Wetlands are often characterized by slow-moving or stagnant water, marshy vegetation, and soils that are rich in organic matter.

Wetlands can be found in a variety of environments, including coastal areas, river deltas, and floodplains, as well as in man-made structures such as retention ponds and agricultural ditches. They play a vital role in the environment, acting as natural filters for pollutants, reducing erosion and flooding, and providing habitat for a wide range of plant and animal species.

Happy World Wetlands Day!
